SUMMARY:Lykos Half Marathon and Republic Public Run
LOCATION:Hierapolis Antik Kenti / Pamukkale\, Denizli\, Aegean
DESCRIPTION:Run in Denizli's Pamukkale district\, this half marathon skirts
the famous white travertine terraces before finishing among the columns o
f ancient Hierapolis. Also marking the Republic's founding\, it brings run
ners of all levels together on a UNESCO World Heritage route through 5K an
 d 10K companion distances. The measured courses are 5.5 km\, 10 km and 21.
0975 km. All three undulate\, as the ground around Pamukkale and the ancie
nt city dictates\, and all three finish with 2 km on the cobblestones insi
de the ruins\, the rest being asphalt — which is why the organizer recom
mends road shoes and specifically advises against trail shoes. Marshals\,
tape and ground markings are in place along the route.
