Explicit Consent Statement

Last updated: 2026-08-17

This page exists separately from the Privacy Policy because KVKK (Law No. 6698) draws a line between two different things: being *informed* about how your data is processed, and actually *consenting* where consent is the legal basis for that processing. The Privacy Policy does the first; this page covers the two places we rely on the second.

1. Commercial electronic messages (marketing email)

At signup, the marketing checkbox is separate from and unbundled with the terms checkbox — ticking it is your explicit, freely-given consent to receive commercial electronic messages (new races, registration reminders) by email. It's optional, off by default, and recorded with the exact wording shown at the time.

As of this writing, RaceTurkiye does not actually send any commercial/promotional email — the season-reminder and recommendation emails you may receive are transactional, tied to races you've saved, not sent on the basis of this consent. If that changes, this consent will be synced to İYS (Turkey's centralized message-consent registry) before any such email goes out, as required by law. You can withdraw this consent at any time from your account page or by emailing us.

2. Transfer of your account data abroad

As explained in the Privacy Policy, RaceTurkiye runs on infrastructure located outside Turkey. Ticking "I've read and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" at signup — which describes this transfer explicitly — is your explicit consent to that transfer, given this is a small individually-operated project rather than a company that has filed a separate cross-border data transfer undertaking with the KVK Kurulu.

Because this transfer is what makes having an account possible at all, withdrawing this specific consent means deleting your account rather than opting out while keeping it — you can do that yourself from your account page at any time.
