Upcoming Events in the Istanbul Region

11 events found in the Istanbul region.

Istanbul, spanning two continents, has the busiest race calendar of any city in Turkey. The Istanbul Marathon is the standout: the only marathon course in the world that crosses from one continent to another, running over the Bosphorus Bridge between the European and Asian sides. Held every November, it draws runners across the full marathon, a 15K, and a fun-run category. Beyond the marathon, the city hosts small and mid-sized runs, night runs, and charity races year-round across its districts, making it the country's most consistently active running scene. Triathlon and open-water swimming events also stand out here, built around continental-crossing swims that use the Bosphorus current. The city's geographic variety — coastline, hilly parks (Belgrad Forest, Çamlıca) and the historic peninsula — supports a range of course profiles, though traffic density means larger events typically run early on weekend mornings with road closures in place. The calendar runs year-round, but peaks in September-November and March-May when temperatures suit distance running. Because participant numbers are high, popular events can fill their entry caps months in advance, so early registration is worth planning for.

7 of the next 11 races fall between October and December. Distances run from 5km to 42km.
