Ultra Events in Turkey

34 events found.

Ultra running covers any distance beyond the marathon (42.2K), and its most visible presence in Turkey is the Cappadocia stage of the UTMB World Series. Finishing one of these races earns "Running Stones," a points system tied to distance and course difficulty that qualifies runners for entry to the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc itself. Turkish ultra events typically run in 50K, 80K, 100K and 100-mile (161K) categories, most involving several hours through the night as part of the format. Mandatory gear lists — headlamp, thermal blanket, phone, minimum water and food capacity — are close to universal at these distances, and organisers typically enforce multiple checkpoints with cut-off times along the course. Cappadocia's volcanic terrain and the Taurus Mountains' high-elevation routes are among the most sought-after ultra courses. Entry usually assumes prior trail or mountain-running experience; many events ask for a past race result or a minimum-experience declaration at sign-up. The season runs May through October, peaking in September-October when temperatures drop and daylight runs longer. Finish rates vary from roughly 60-90% depending on course difficulty, which makes it worth weighing preparation level carefully before entering.

November is the busiest month, with 9 races. Distances run from 0.5km to 160km. Climb decides difficulty more often than distance does: Adana Backyard Ultra has 35m of ascent, İznik Ultra Maratonu has 4,740m.
