Running Events in Turkey

30 events found.

Turkey's running calendar spans everything from major city marathons to neighbourhood 5K and 10K races. The Istanbul Marathon is the calendar's best-known event, and famously the only marathon in the world run across two continents — the course crosses the Bosphorus Bridge, drawing thousands of local and international runners each year. Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Bursa each host their own half-marathon and 10K events, with the calendar concentrated in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November); summer is quieter outside coastal cities because of the heat. City marathons tend to run on flat-to-rolling asphalt courses, while smaller club- and municipality-organised runs (park runs, night runs, charity runs) make up the bulk of the calendar. Entry fees typically range from 150-500 TRY, with major city marathons priced higher. 5K and 10K options are available at nearly every event, which makes running one of the most accessible sports on the calendar for newcomers. Timing chips, race photography, and finisher medals have become standard at medium and large events, and pace groups are increasingly common at the larger marathons for runners targeting a specific finish time.

20 of the next 30 races fall between October and December. Distances run from 0.2km to 60km.
