Data controller

RaceTurkiye is not yet operated through a registered company — at this stage it's run by Mehmet Kaan Erol as an individual. Under KVKK (Law No. 6698), Mehmet Kaan Erol is the data controller (veri sorumlusu) for the processing described on this page. For any request about your data, reach us at support@raceturkiye.com.

What we collect

Browsing RaceTurkiye is anonymous — you can discover and compare events without an account, and registration happens on each event's own official site.

For athlete accounts (optional — for saving races and leaving reviews): your email address (used only to sign you in via a one-time link, no password), an optional public display name you choose (shown on reviews you write), the events you save, and any reviews you post. You can view, export, or permanently delete all of this yourself from your account page.

For organizer accounts: your email address (used only to sign you in via a one-time link, no password), and any brand/marketing content you add to your event page (logo, photos, text, sponsor info). We do not collect participant or attendee personal data.

Cookies and analytics

Signing in uses a strictly-necessary session cookie — the site can't function without it, so it's set regardless of the choice below. With your consent (see the banner shown on your first visit, or Cookie Policy to change it anytime), we also use Google Analytics (page views, general usage patterns) and Google Ads (measuring whether a click on our "Register" button came from an ad, so we know which ads are actually working). Both send data to Google, which acts as our data processor for this purpose; declining only disables these two, everything else keeps working normally.

Separately from the above, we count visits to each event page ourselves so we can tell the race organiser how many people saw their listing. This one sets no cookie and stores nothing personal about you: no IP address, no browser fingerprint, and no web address you arrived from — only whether it was a search engine, a social network, our own pages, or another site (and for that last case, the site's domain name alone, never the page). To count returning visits within a single day without identifying anyone, your IP address and browser are turned into a non-reversible code using a key that changes every day and is never stored — so the same person cannot be recognised from one day to the next, by us or by anyone. Because none of this identifies you, it runs whatever you choose in the cookie banner; detailed records are deleted after 90 days, and only anonymous daily totals are kept.

Where it's processed

RaceTurkiye runs on infrastructure located outside Turkey — hosting, database, and account-email delivery, plus error monitoring (which can capture your IP address when something breaks) and abuse-prevention on forms like sign-in and event submission (which briefly stores an identifier derived from your IP address). Using these services means athlete and organizer account data alike is transferred and processed abroad. Given RaceTurkiye isn't yet a company with a separate cross-border transfer undertaking on file with the KVK Kurulu, the basis for this transfer is your explicit consent, given by accepting the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy at signup — see the Explicit Consent Statement for exactly how that works.

Retention

Sign-in links expire shortly after being sent. Session data is kept only while your account remains active and is deleted on request (see below).

Your rights under KVKK

If you have an athlete account, you can exercise your right to access and erasure yourself at any time from your account page: download a copy of all your data as a file, or permanently delete your account and everything associated with it (saved races and reviews) in one step.

You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing support@raceturkiye.com. We process email erasure requests manually and will confirm once completed.
