Upcoming Events in the Marmara Region

21 events found in the Marmara region.

The Marmara region — Bursa, Çanakkale and the surrounding area — spans a wide range of terrain, supporting everything from road running to cycling, trail and triathlon. Uludağ's high-elevation routes suit technical trail and mountain running, while the flatter terrain around the Dardanelles favours road running and cycling. The region's climate — milder than Central Anatolia, cooler than the Mediterranean — keeps the season open from roughly March through November. Bursa is one of the few places in Turkey where a historic city centre, known for its Silk Road heritage and thermal springs, sits within reach of genuine mountain terrain on Uludağ, allowing both a city marathon and a mountain trail race to exist around the same base. Çanakkale adds a cultural dimension through routes near ancient Troy and the Gallipoli peninsula, and some races incorporate these historic routes directly into the course. Proximity to Istanbul makes weekend events easy to reach, and a large share of entrants travel in from the city. The combination of sea and mountain terrain makes Marmara a practical choice for athletes wanting to try more than one discipline on a single trip.

11 of the next 21 races fall between September and November. Distances run from 5km to 160km.
